Darn Good Vegan Apple Crumble
Can you believe we've made it to the 12th day of goodness?! Time flies when you're eating this good. We're finishing off with a bang with this to-die-for apple crumble recipe. If you thought you loved apple crumble before, just wait until you try this one. It is a buttery, sweet, and gooey pile of deliciousness and we thought it would be an ideal sharable dessert for family get togethers. This can easily be made gluten free by substituting regular flour with a gluten free option or simply blending up oats to create your own oat flour.
We hope you all enjoyed these 12 days of scrumptious eats as much as we did, although making this much food also means consuming an absurd amount of it and probably putting on a few pounds, but we did warn you beforehand that this would be no healthy venture! We wish you all very happy holidays that are hopefully filled with delectable treats and meals brought to you by none other than the culinary cousins! Now let's get on with this apple crumble.
Note: This makes a LOT, about 12 generous servings, so cut the recipe in half if you aren't planning on feeding a big crowd.
Ingredients:
Apple filling:
10 apples, peeled and cut into cubes
Juice of 1 lemon
3/4 cup brown sugar
1.5 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup water
Topping:
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup melted vegan butter
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix all the filling ingredients in a large bowl and pour into a large, greased baking dish.
Mix all the topping ingredients together and then pour an even layer over the apple mixture.
Bake for about 50 mins to an hour and serve warm! If you have to reheat it, just pop it in the oven again at 350F for another 20-30 minutes.
Voila! Serve à la mode with your favourite non-dairy vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
